What is genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM)?
Genitourinary syndrome of menopause is a constellation of symptoms caused by the physiological decrease in estrogen occurring at menopause or by any other low estrogen state. Symptoms may include vaginal dryness, burning, irritation, pain with intercourse, urinary symptoms and recurrent infections. While not all women voice these concerns, the majority do suffer from these symptoms, which can significantly impair quality of life.
